abode service
When a party is summoned or petitioned to court several methods can be used to notify that party that their presence is required or requested.
Abode Service - Service of a summons and a petition is to be made either by personal service or by delivering a copy to the person's abode.
Service by Mail - A mailing can be sent to the party's address. 705 ILCS 405/5-15(5) (West 1994). Service may be made by certified mail if personal or abode service is not made on a respondent within a reasonable time.
Service by Publication - Service by publication is usually only done if personal or abode service is not made on a respondent within a reasonable time.
